Claudia Laboyrie, Psychotherapist
I am a UKCP registered existential psychotherapist. My consulting room is in Fitzrovia, W1. It is a short walk from the Tottenham Court Tube station and it is a quiet, comfortable space…a respite from the hustle and bustle of central London. My clients come from diverse backgrounds…culturally, professionally, age-wise.
And each client has a unique reason for seeking therapy. You do not necessarily have to be suffering with a mental health issue to benefit from psychotherapy. Clients come to see me to explore a variety of issues: relationship issues, anxiety, depression, addiction, illness amongst them.
I studied at Regent’s University completing the Foundations Course, The two Year Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy, and the post master’s Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry and Comparative Literature (German and French) which I completed in Massachusetts, USA.
I have also worked in the mental health ward of an NHS hospital, at an Addiction Center in North London, and at a practice in central London set up to offer low cost therapy for individuals.
I was born in the United States but have spent two thirds of my life in Europe, the last 25 years here in the UK. Earlier in life, I have had a career as a banker in New York and a stint in an Ad agency in Germany. I believe the varying experiences I’ve had professionally and also having lived in different parts of the world gives me a deep source to draw from when sitting face to face with clients. Its left me with a sense of wonder and openness to the experiences of others.
